Our client, the SA Country Fire Service (CFS), serves communities through dedicated volunteers delivering professional fire and rescue services to outer metropolitan, regional and rural South Australia.  With over 13,500 volunteers contributing in excess of 3 million hours per annum to ensure the safety of the community, CFS’s vision is to build on their reputation as a trusted, responsive and effective community-based fire and emergency services organisation.

The critically important role of Deputy Chief Officer is now available to a highly accomplished senior executive with proven ability to lead in emergency management and emergency services situations.

The Deputy Chief Officer will carry responsibility for ensuring CFS’s operational readiness for its statutory functions, preparedness and response, and will play a critical role in the development and execution of strategic and business plans, corporate initiatives and future directions, working closely with the Chief Executive and Executive Team to achieve key organisational objectives.

We seek a person with demonstrable executive leadership skills, expert strategic ability in emergency management and exceptional problem-solving skills to lead organisational change and operational excellence. A background in working with emergency services volunteers would be advantageous.  Your ability to influence, lead and collaborate at the strategic level will be essential in delivering emergency management outcomes and achieving CFS’s mission. Your focus will be on fostering a culture of safety, professionalism and continuous improvement, ensuring efficient and best work practices and, ultimately, contributing to the protection and wellbeing of South Australians.
