Ensuring SAPOL’s risk management processes and internal control environments are effective and operating as designed, the Director, Risk and Assurance is responsible for leading, advising on and coordinating the management of SAPOL’s Risk Management Portfolio and Framework, driving an appropriate, consistent and robust approach to governance.

In this rare leadership position, reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, Governance and Capability Service, the Director will support SAPOL to detect potential threats to reputation, financial sustainability, operational efficiency and workforce safety; develop, manage and review the implementation of the Audit Plan and associated strategies; direct and coordinate the delivery of regular audit and risk analysis reports; and, lead the development and implementation of Business Continuity Management capability across SAPOL.

Interest is sought from applicants with substantial senior level experience in managing the development and implementation of Risk Management frameworks and strategies, as well as exceptional interpersonal skills ensuring the establishment of effective working relationships across SAPOL and the wider public sector to maintain currency of issues and collaborate on common responses to emerging and/or developing issues.

We are seeking a risk and assurance professional who will bring to SAPOL innovation, proactivity, commerciality and the ability to foster and drive an appropriate risk, assurance and governance culture within a complex, fast-paced, ever changing and multi-faceted environment.
