SAES 1 | Critically Important Role | Rare Career Opportunity Our client, the Department for Correctional Services (DCS) plays a crucial role in the management of South Australia’s justice sector; responsible for prisoners, offenders in the community and the provision of impactful rehabilitation services. The rare opportunity is now available to join the Department in a critically important key General Management role, holding overall responsibility for the Adelaide Women’s Prison and Pre-Release Centre (AWP/APC). Reporting to the Executive Director, Community Corrections and Specialist Prisons, the General Manager, AWP/APC will help achieve continuous improvement and business excellence via the provision of critically important leadership and direction to all AWP/APC staff, facilities, budgets and expenditure. Adhering to best practice standards, legislative requirements and the Departmental Strategic and Business Plans, you will be tasked with the development and implementation of effective, humane and quality correctional system services; the provision of a safe and secure prison environment which ensures effective rehabilitation, case management, personal development and positive welfare of prisoners; and, the effective implementation of relevant departmental offender management policies and programs. This includes but is not limited to the Strong Foundations and Clear Pathways – Women’s Action Plan 2019-24 and the National Agreement on Closing the Gap to reduce the rate of Aboriginal adults incarcerated, with a commitment to a new target of reducing reoffending 20% by 2026 (20by26). Experience in a senior management position working within a sensitive, confidential environment and overseeing human, financial and physical resources is essential to success in this role. A tertiary qualification in Justice Administration, Behavioural Sciences, Business Administration or other relevant qualifications, combined with a detailed understanding of the Department is desirable, however relevant experience will also be closely considered.
