Our client, the Department for Innovation and Skills (DIS) is responsible for growing the South Australian economy by supporting people and business to succeed. DIS supports economic growth by helping people get the skills they want and the economy needs, increasing South Australia’s productivity growth rate through research and innovation and by supporting entrepreneurs and business growth.

The exciting opportunity now exists for a Director, Hi-Tech Industries to join DIS. Reporting to the Executive Director, Innovation and Science Group, you will be responsible for the effective leadership of the Hi-Tech Industries Team to deliver effective whole-of-government strategic policy, programs and initiatives which support the growth of South Australia’s Hi-Tech Industries, while improving the performance of the State’s research and innovation system.

Encompassing strategic and operational outcomes, this role is responsible for providing high-level strategic advice to Department Executives and the Minister, leading the Growth State Hi-Tech Sector Plan 2030 and supporting the implementation of EXCITE, the Government’s science and innovation strategic plan, and FIXE, the Government’s entrepreneurship and startup strategy.

You will be responsible for leveraging industry and industrial resources to benefit South Australia and enhance its productivity, and will represent the State and DIS at a national level, where public and private sector partnerships and collaborations will be key to your success. 

While it is desirable to have a degree of understanding of past, present and future technologies and concepts, applications are welcomed from executives who have a proven track record in driving and influencing the successful delivery of complex policies and programs, positively impacting various stakeholders and partners on a local and national scale.
