Attend Six Meetings Annually
Our client, the Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority (NAWMA) is a regional subsidiary formed under the Local Government Act (SA) 1999 to provide best practice waste management and resource recovery services. NAWMA receives and processes material for a range of clients including businesses, industry and regional SA councils with its predominant services being for its three (3) Constituent Councils: City of Salisbury, City of Playford and Town of Gawler.
Formal applications are encouraged from suitably qualified professionals to serve on the NAWMA Audit Committee and make an impactful contribution to the organisation’s financial reporting, internal control systems, risk management systems as well as business continuity planning processes. We are seeking to recruit three Independent Committee Members with significant skills, experience and qualifications to continue to add value in making recommendations to the Board regarding any matters that require action and/or improvement. One of the appointed Independent Committee Members will be elected by the NAWMA Board as the Presiding Member.
It is envisaged by the Board, that the appointees will possess a broad mix of skills and experience across key audit, accounting, financial management, financial reporting and risk management functions. With sound commercial acumen and broad strategic perspective, these roles represent an excellent opportunity to contribute to an exciting industry that is experiencing rapid growth and transformation.
Ideally, interest is sought from finance professionals with prior audit committee experience and preferably some level of exposure to the local government sector. Formal qualifications are highly desirable and will be considered against the backdrop of prior experience at a senior level. The members of the Committee will be required to attend six meetings annually and will be appropriately remunerated for their attendance at meetings and other key preparatory work.
